Black Cod, also known as Sablefish or Gindara, is found in the cold, deep sea waters of the Pacific Ocean. The cold water produces a fatty fish with a delicate flavour making it ideal for salting, smoking, grilling, baking and deep frying.

A fatty fish with a full flavour
Although the name suggests otherwise, Black Cod is not a member of the cod family but belongs to the scorpaeniformes and flathead species.
Black Cod is characterised by its delicate flavour and high fat content. This fish contains more Omega 3 than tuna and salmon. Its flaky, buttery texture and pearl-white colour make this an extremely popular product.
The fish is processed in accordance with the Headed and Gutted specification. In other words, its head and guts are removed.
Our Black Cod H&G is available in sizes 3-4, 4-5, 5-7, 7-10 and 10+lb. These can be processed into fillets or portions.
