PREPARATION
Step 1: Preparing the rice
First, prepare the sushi rice. Start by rinsing 2 cups of sushi rice thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear. Combine the rinsed rice with 2.5 cups of water in a pot. Bring it to a boil, then cover the pot and let it simmer for 10 minutes. After simmering, remove the pot from the heat and let it stand with the lid on for another 10 minutes.
While the rice is resting, prepare the seasoning. In a separate bowl, heat 1/4 cup of rice vinegar with 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1 teaspoon of salt until the sugar is completely dissolved. Transfer the cooked rice to a large bowl and gently fold in the vinegar mixture. Allow the seasoned rice to cool to room temperature.
Step 2: Preparing the Blue World Seafood Tuna
Start by marinating the fish. In a medium bowl, combine 3 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of mirin, 1 tablespoon of rice vinegar, 1 teaspoon of sesame oil, 1 teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of grated ginger. Mix well to create a flavorful marinade. Add 200 grams of Red Tuna Cubes to the marinade, ensuring the fish is well-coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 15-30 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
Step 3: Preparing the sushi
As the fish marinates, assemble the sushi rolls. Place a sheet of nori, shiny side down, on a sushi mat. Wet your hands to prevent the rice from sticking and spread a thin layer of sushi rice evenly over the nori, leaving about 2 cm at the top edge. Arrange julienned cucumber horizontally across the middle of the rice. Using the sushi mat, carefully roll the nori and rice over the fillings, pressing firmly to form a tight roll.
Once the rolls are assembled, use a sharp knife moistened with water to slice each roll into 6-8 pieces. Arrange the sushi pieces on a serving platter. Take the marinated fish cubes and place a few on top of each sushi piece. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top for garnish.
Step 4: Assemebling the dish
Finally, serve your beautifully crafted sushi rolls with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger on the side.
Enjoy your sushi creation, perfect for impressing guests or enjoying a special meal at home.
